What's up with the white monkeys?

I've had many friends send me questions today about the strange photos of large blow up monkeys that I posted today on facebook.  These monkeys are part of an outdoor public installation being hosted by 21c Museum here in Louisville, KY.  Here are the details on the exhibit if you would like to learn more.

Where were you when you heard about the attacks on 9/11?

I was deeply sleeping when Kenneth Slifer who was visiting at the time woke me up and told me to come see what was happening in New York City. I had just moved to Louisville, Kentucky from New Jersey for a new job at The Presbyterian Center. I tried calling family for hours only getting busy signals. I think I finally got someone around lunch. I remember my mom telling me later that night about the smoke clouds that were drifting through the school playground 40 miles south on the jersey shore that afternoon. It feels like it only happened last year.

9/11 Ground Zero memorial ceremony

Take a few moments and hear and remember the names of those lost at Ground Zero but never forgotten. Say a prayer for their families and friends. Please also remember those lives that were lost at the Pentagon and in that field in Pennsylvania.

Dad's in heaven surrounded by his people

Yesterday afternoon my father and brother arrived from Eatontown, NJ.  A little back story is necessary at this point.  During our travels to New Jersey a few weeks ago to be with my grandmother before she passed away we began to experience some car trouble.  We ended up needing some extensive transmission work down.  My parents offered us one of their cars so that we could return home to Louisville and get back to work.  I believe secretly my father saw it as an opportunity to drive my car back to Louisville just by chance the same week of The National Quartet Convention.  The National Quartet Convention (NQC) is an annual gathering of Southern Gospel quartets and musicians. It is currently held at Freedom Hall on the grounds of the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  Upon arrival my dad sat and rested for about 30 minutes and then quickly departed.  He didn't want to miss one more minute of that event.  Like I said in the title, Dad's in heaven surrounded by his people.
